The game (not gambling)

Double Down Trivia is a party trivia game. Players create or join private rooms, answer questions, and wager virtual points / chips on their answers. Virtual points and chips have no cash value. There is no deposit account for real money, no withdrawal, no cash-out, no prize redemption for money or money-equivalents, and no real-money gambling through this app.

In-game “wagers” and “double down” style plays are scoring mechanics for entertainment among friends, not casino betting.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 to use Double Down Trivia. If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland you must also meet the digital-consent age in your country (often 16). If you are under the age of majority where you live, use the service only with a parent or guardian’s permission where that is required. By using the app, you represent that you meet these requirements.

Accounts

Hosts sign in with Google, Apple, or X so rooms can be tied to a durable account and spam can be reduced. Joiners may use those providers or continue as a guest (anonymous Firebase Auth). You are responsible for activity under your account. Keep the linked provider account secure. Guest sessions may be lost if you clear site data or sign out.

You can delete the account in the app (home or Support). That ends the chip license. It is not a cash refund.

Community rules

House rules live on the Community page and are part of these terms. We may refuse, hide, or delete pack content, reset rooms or scores, suspend access, or delete an account when we believe the rules or these terms are broken, or the service is at risk.

Anagrams

Anagrams is a letter-signature puzzle on Double Down Trivia. It is not an AI guesser. Play, Unscramble, and Make use title lists we compile at build time from public catalogs:

Wikipedia American film titles and credits (prust/wikipedia-movie-data, MIT)
TVmaze show listings (TVmaze API, CC BY-SA)
Project Gutenberg catalog (Gutenberg license)
World cities via DataHub / GeoNames (datasets/world-cities, PDDL)

Those catalogs, Wikipedia pages linked from Read up, and the titles they name belong to their owners. Double Down Trivia is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Wikipedia, the Wikimedia Foundation, TVmaze, Project Gutenberg, GeoNames, or the studios, networks, publishers, or people whose titles appear in the lists. Inclusion is for entertainment. It is not a claim about rights in those names.

A public MCP endpoint can run the same letter-signature tools without an account. Do not use it to harass, scrape at a volume that harms the service, or misrepresent the lists as complete or official.

Virtual chips and purchases

Optional chip packs may be offered through Stripe Checkout. Chips are a limited license to use soft currency inside the app for entertainment. They are not money, stored value redeemable for cash, or a financial instrument. Chips cannot be sold, traded outside the app, transferred between players for value, or cashed out.

Chip pack prices shown in the shop are for virtual goods only. Payment processing is handled by Stripe Checkout.

Digital content and withdrawal. Buying chips is a contract for digital content. By completing checkout you ask us to start the license immediately. Once chips are credited, you lose the 14-day right of withdrawal that would otherwise apply to distance contracts for digital content, except where the law of your country does not allow that waiver.

Refunds. Purchases are otherwise non-refundable once chips are delivered, except where required by law or when a verified technical failure prevented delivery. Billing issues go through Support, not a personal inbox. Chargebacks for delivered virtual goods may result in account limits.

Your content

If you create custom trivia packs or other content, you are responsible for what you submit and for having the rights to share it with players in your rooms. You grant us a non-exclusive license to host, display, and transmit that content as needed to operate the game. We may remove content that appears unlawful or abusive.

Availability

The app is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. Rooms, scores, packs, chip balances, leaderboards, or features may be reset, delayed, or removed as we operate and improve the service. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free play. If you are a consumer, statutory guarantees that cannot be excluded still apply.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for mandatory consumer rights in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland.

Subject to that, Elijah Silverman and anyone helping operate Double Down Trivia are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost points, chips, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for claims relating to the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for virtual chips in the three months before the claim or (b) USD $50.

Name and trademarks

“Double Down” / Double Down Trivia is used here as the name of this trivia product and as everyday game language (risking more points on an answer). The app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any casino, gambling operator, or third-party “Double Down” branded service. Other names and logos (including Google, Apple, X, and Stripe) belong to their owners.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change when we do. Material changes will also be noted on this page. If you do not agree, stop using the service and delete your account. Continued use after the new date means you accept the update, except that we will not take away rights the law does not let you waive.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are interpreted under the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer habitually resident in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you also keep the mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence, and you may bring a claim in the courts of that country.
